WhereWe will be larping in Chislehurst Caves, Caveside Cl, Old Hill, Chislehurst BR7 5NL. The venue is 5 min walk from Chislehurst train station, which is within London public transport Zone 5 There are trains going there every 15 min; a single journey from central London should cost you under £5.
If you’re travelling internationally, the easiest way of getting to the venue is flying or taking a Eurostar to London, and then using public transport. It should take you around 2h to get there from any London airport; Gatwick is the closest one. If you want to drive to the venue, there will be parking spaces available. |
WhenThere will be two runs of the larp:

VENUEThe caves are a very atmospheric and otherworldly location, however they come with some practical disadvantages. Here are some important considerations regarding comfort and accessibility that we would like you to take into account before deciding if this is a larp for you.
|
SCHEDULEThe larp will start at 11am on Saturday; all participants must be at the venue by then. We will have a couple of hours of workshops and time in after lunch. The play will continue until early evening on Sunday, though the participants are encouraged to get a reasonable amount of sleep during nighttime. After time-out around 5pm, we will have an optional debrief, and then go to a pub to have dinner together – but you can leave directly after time-out if you prefer.
Participants travelling from outside London might wish to stay in the area on Friday and/or Sunday night. There is a Premier Inn hotel 25 min direct bus ride from the venue; a night in a twin room costs £48 on Sunday (that’s for 2 people total). Friday night at the Premier Inn is more expensive, costing £98 per twin room. Interested participants might want to look into e.g. sharing an airbnb. We will help connect you with other participants to share rooms. FOODWe will provide lunch and dinner on Saturday, and breakfast and lunch on Sunday. Food will be vegetarian with vegan options, and we will do our best to cater to other diets. Participants are allowed to bring their own meat products – though please note that there will be no way of reheating or refrigerating them.
We will provide a moderate amount of alcohol on Saturday evening, but we expect the participants to not get drunk. After the larp on Sunday evening, we will go to a pub to have dinner together – that’s not included in the cost of the larp. |
CostumeWe will not be providing costumes. Because of the cool temperatures and the somewhat dusty environment, we encourage you to prioritise comfort and not wear expensive clothes you wouldn’t want to get dusty.
The human characters are mostly modern-day researchers who came prepared to explore a cave system and dressed appropriately for that – so by default you should wear some sensible camping clothes with several layers, preferably in dark muted colours to have more visual distinction between humans and Reflections. You can still express your character’s personality to some extent through accessories, but this will not be a big element of the larp. The players of the Reflections should also be mindful of their off-game comfort and have several layers of warm clothing, but they are allowed more freedom when it comes to styles and colours – though we encourage you to wear either something colourful or white, to better distinguish Reflections and humans (who will mostly be wearing dark, muted colours). Depending on what suits your character, you could wear something e.g. old-fashioned, otherworldly, dishevelled, flamboyant, ethereal, eclectic, mismatched, weird. Please stop short of a full Halloween ghost/zombie/android costume and make-up though, your characters should still pass as human! |
TicketsThe tickets are priced at:
Please be reminded that, depending on your preferences, you might incur extra expenses for things not included in the price of the larp, as explained above: i.e. staying somewhere in London on Friday and Sunday night, hiring a camping bed and a sleeping bag for Saturday night, pub dinner on Sunday. No payment is needed during sign-up. We will inform you whether you got a spot by 9 April 2023. The first payment of £100 will be due by 15 May 2023. The remainder will be due by the end of June. Your ticket can be refunded or partially refunded if we find a paying replacement player. If you cancel later within a month from the larp, we will not be able to issue a refund. |
